Lionel Naidoo of Dragon Information Systems gave us 10 top tips to help your GDPR implementation go smoothly. Remember, it comes into force on 25 May 2018.

"I know that this upheaval in the regulations is of concern to many!"

If you wish to be educated more, please feel free to contact us and join us at our March breakfast meeting on 7th March where we will have a representative from EMW, solicitors, presenting on the subject.

With data protection being an extremely important subject area, Essendon is currently going through the application to become certified under the National Cyber Security Centre's Cyber Essentials programme. With us having a great IT company looking after us, we believe we already have the right processes in place, but these should be regularly reviewed, so using the Government sponsored scheme makes sense.

If you are also nervous or worried yourself then please do feel free to contact me and together with my contacts we can point you in the right direction.

"January so far has also seen me having the pleasure of welcoming Steve Fleming to the Essendon team!"

Steve qualified in 2002 with a top 20 national firm, before heading to London to manage the audit and accounts department for a seven-partner firm. For the last 5 years, Steve has moved back into general practice working with owner-managed businesses and family businesses on all aspects of their finances, from payroll, VAT, bookkeeping, accounts, corporate and personal taxes.

Steve brings with him an all-around wealth of knowledge which enables him to assist, advise and work closely with clients to maximise their goals and potential.

When not in the office, Steve can be found on the golf course, normally in the rough, and he also enjoys reading and cooking, although I have yet to sample his creations.

"Essendon is proud to have nominated a local charity as our charity of the year!"

We are currently planning a series of events in support of Medical Detection Dogs during 2018, with a flagship event likely to be a barn dance in the spring. After all, we ought to capitalise on the fact that Victoria plays the accordion with her own band.

So we are only into week 2 of 2018 and a lot has been achieved already both internally and with our clients. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy healthy and prosperous New Year and remind you that Essendon is ready to support you throughout 2018

"Would you like to know more?"

If you'd like to talk about anything I've mentioned in this blog post, do call me on 01908 774320 or click here to ping me an email and let's see how I can help you.

Until next time ...
