They suspect that a number of employers are non-compliant with their automatic enrolment systems so will be visiting and checking that all legal duties are being complied with.

"This could lead to a financial penalty or court action!"

The Pensions Regulators Director of Automatic Enrolment, Darren Ryder said, "Most employers are doing the right thing, we know that, however, there is a small number who are ignoring their legal responsibilities. They can expect a firm knock on the door from us soon."

Inspections have already started in Edinburgh and they will continue throughout the summer across the United Kingdon. This is an on-going enforcement campaign and will ensure employers are meeting their legal responsibilities.

On a personal note, my advice is to keep your records as detailed as possible; I can't stress that enough. Be careful of payrises for employees, and ensure that you have written evidence from people who have opted out.

If you'd like to find out more about pensions, automatic enrolment or how Essendon Accounts can keep on top of it all for you, do give me a call on 01908 774320 or click here to ping me an email and let's see how I can help you.

Until next time ...
