New King Charles Bank Notes Revealed

We're all so used to seeing our beloved late Queen on our banknotes and coins, but the Bank of England has unveiled new designs featuring images of King Charles ...

The new portrait of the King will be the only change to the existing designs for the £5, £10, £20 and £50 notes and will be in circulation from the middle of 2024. His portrait will appear on the front as well as in the see-through security panel.

"Existing notes will still be accepted in shops after the new notes begin to circulate!"

The late Queen was the only Monarch to appear on Bank of England banknotes and this started in 1960. Scottish and Northern Irish banks do not include the Monarch on their banknotes.

The late introduction of the King Charles banknotes is because of advice from the Royal household asking that they only be produced as replacements for worn notes. This is because they want to minimise the environmental impacts of the change.

"Collectors will certainly be interested in getting hold of low serial number banknotes!"

Have you seen one of the new King Charles 50p pieces yet? They're already available from post offices across the country and are being given out in change for cash transactions.
