How Can You Protect Your Business Against Fraud?

There's a new campaign designed to help and support businesses in the fight against fraud. It's called Love Business, Hate Fraud and it was put together by the Fraud Advisory Panel and Barclays Bank ...

Founded in 1998, the Fraud Advisory Panel is a charitable company that is the voice of the counter-fraud profession. It aims to strengthen fraud resilience through best practices in detection, reporting, investigation and prosecution.

"Everyone benefits when small businesses thrive!"

It is very possible that a small business can fail because of fraud, and I believe this harmful, and sometimes embarassing, type of crime should not go unchallenged. This is why I support Love Business, Hate Fraud.

A recent survey found that 44% of SMEs and 49% of all businesses agreed that fraud was a major risk to growth over the next couple of years. Of those businesses that had experienced fraud in the past two years, 18% said it was the most disruptive, ahead of cybercrime, physical burglary and other crimes like assault.

A combined 41% said a lack of understanding and the cost of taking action were the biggest barriers to tackling fraud. As it is the most common crime, long-term economic growth could be hurt if it isn't tackled immediately.

I urge anyone who cares about small businesses to support the Love Business, Hate Fraud campaign.
