Final Claims For The Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme

HMRC has notified us that the Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme ends on the 17th of March 2022. You have until the 24th of March 2022 to submit any new claims ...

This means that employers will be unable to claim back Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) for any employees' Coronovirus related absences or self-isolation that occur after the 17th of March 2022.

"From the 25th of March, we return to normal SSP rules!"

This means you can revert to only needing to pay SSP from the forth qualifying day an employee is off work, regardless of the reason for being absent. More information can be found by searching gov.uk for Statutory Sick Pay (SSP): employer guide.

Remember, there are a lot of scammers out there. If someone contacts you claiming to be from HMRC and requires you to either transfer money urgently or offer up personal information, don't do it.

"Some scammers will even threaten you with arrest!"

HMRC says not to panic. They will never phone you threatening arrest if you don't pay up, only criminals do that. Take your time and if you're worried, phone them direct (from numbers you find on gov.uk) or visit cyberaware.gov.uk for a guide on how to report scams and stay safe online.
