Changes To Companies House Protected Online Filing Service

Companies House has made improvements to their Protected Online Filing (PROOF) service, which will help to prevent unauthorised company name changes ...

Introduced on the 1st of June 2021, PROOF is a free service that allows you to protect your company from fraudulent changes to your records. For example, it prevents paper filings such as changes to a company's registered address or directors' details.

From now on, two documents will be required to change these details:

- form NM01 (notice of change of name by resolution)
- copy of the resolution (change of name by special resolution)

You can join PROOF using the Companies House online filing service, and you must be registered for online filing first. These changes will allow Companies House to remain a trustworthy source of information.

I believe these changes to the Protected Online Filing service is a crucial step to maintain confidence in Companies House as we unlock the economy post-pandemic.
